Baby Food Event round up

Around 10-12 months is when little ones try to explore eating on their own, so if you think they are trying to grab the spoon with food just to mess up- think again, they are trying to self feed and master the hand-eye coordination. For this age you can find many snacks in the stores which are easy to pick up and eat, say rice puffs, baked cheese goodies and veggie and fruit melts. Here are some more that you can add to the list, a round up of finger food for babies from 10-12 months of age.

I would take this opportunity to suggest that though I have posted recipes here sent by my fellow bloggers, please take the time to check if your baby is ready for finger food. If you think they may choke on food like channa(garbanzo) beans and peas or cannot chew pasta, just mash it lightly so that they can still scoop it, pick it up and eat it. If your child has any allergies to any of the ingredients or if you are unsure please check with your pediatrician if it is acceptable to give these foods. It is always better to be safe than sorry!

Straight to the recipes then:

My recipe suggestion:
Pasta trio! I personally feel that pastas are great finger foods for babies. I am just suggesting a method, feel free to alter it according to your needs.

Bring about 2 cups of water to boil. Add a dash of salt and olive oil. Add just less than 1/4 cup of either bow-tie pasta, penne, wagon wheels, angel hair pasta and cook it well(not al dente).

Discard the water, toss the pasta with your child’s favorite chopped boiled vegetables like sweet potato, corn, peas, beans, carrots etc., and serve. If your child is going through a picky eating phase I’d suggest cook a pasta meal with different kinds of pasta, it is a fun game for the child to see various shapes as well as colors in one bowl!

For sending maximum number of entries, Jaleela receives this award created by Nithu. Congratulations.Asiya, is the runner up!
