I started cooking by helping out mom in the kitchen by cutting veggies and stirring pots now and then. Once I started living on my own, the culinary world I thought I knew was the most challenging part to handle. I missed some of the authentic food I grew up with and I could not get them where I was living and studying during grad school. Hence I started cooking and slowly learned the variations in recipes.
But then, when I got married, the story started from the beginning again. I knew only typical Tamilnadu recipes and some famous North Indian recipes and made occasional pizzas and pastas but my husband had grown up enjoying the Palgat(Kerala) and Karnataka Cuisine. My journey started again and I added a couple of more recipes to my cookbook journal.
Think of it as SS and NN, the South Pole and the North Pole. SS never knew certain South Indian recipes existed till she married and NN enjoys the cuisine SS had never tasted. But that is what attracted us and keeps us going. Trying and tasting. A nicely created algorithm.
This website is a mix of recipes, the Iyer cooking I grew up with, the Kerala cuisine and recipes from Karnataka. Though we are vegetarians, because of these regional cuisines, I was able to make the same recipe in couple of different ways with different ingredients.
We love to travel and we also pick up recipes from such places. From India to France to Dubai to Canada to US, we have tasted Indian vegetraian food and regional special foods and still love exploring it. This website is a bit of everything, the food we tasted in our travels, making traditional Indian vegetarian food at home and experimenting with other vegetarian cuisines.
Pick up a spoon and dig in!
